1142 ET – The business environment in China has been challenging for many Western companies, but many US restaurant chains still are intent on growing there. McDonald’s says that it is raising its stake in McDonald’s China to 48% from 20% by buying investment-firm Carlyle’s 28% stake. The burger giant said China is now its second largest-market, with its restaurants doubling to more than 5,500 since 2017.
